Dinner out in the City

August 4th, 2005 by Annalena

I went to a big and fancy restaurant in the city tonight, to say goodbye to one of my dad’s colleagues, who is going to work in England. That excites me, because I think I heard mummy saying that we may be going to England next year too!

Here I’m meeting Henry Linger, one of the people my dad spends his days playing with instead of staying home and playing with me.

Go Saints!

I went to my first football game tonight. So many people, so much colour and lights and sounds, and when the crowd roared when St Kilda kicked a goal I thrust my arms in the air with joy! I’m not sure what it all meant, but lots of people seemed to get really excited when the Saints won.

It was all good for me until the long wait at Spencer Street Station for the train home. Then we packed into the train with all the other fans, and although I cried a bit (I was VERY tired) I behaved really well and made lots of new friends.

Another Busy Day

Another busy day of visiting family. First we dropped in at Julie’s place and picked up a cd player, so I can listen to my baby Bach - no, I prefer something a bit funkier! The we had lunch with Nanna Luba and Asher, and this time we remembered to take Old Ted with us when we left.

Then we went home, with barely any time for a nap before we went out to dinner with Auntie Mel.

Grandpa comes to visit

Grandpa Jeff and Bianca came to visit this morning. Biance was working hard in the garden while I was playing with Grandpa. I really liked it when he kissed me.

After that I had a sleep in my big cot, and then my mum took me shopping for some funky new clothes (even thought I have SO many clothes from all my cousins). We then went to see a film, which was great to watch - so many great contrasting colours, and interesting black and white patterns. But it was very long and very noisy, and perhaps a bit gratuitously violent.

Thanks for all the presents!!!

Presents!!

I just LOVE being surrounded by all these fun things! Thanks to everyone who sent cards, and flowers, and presents, and thanks to all who called and visited and said hello to me from all over the world, even Tasmania!

I’ve also started a new photo album because the first one got up to 50 photos. You can still look at the first album here, and the new one is here.

Party time!

I went to a party last night. It was a birthday party for Jess and her twin sister Zoe. Lots of fun! Lots of people to talk to and play with. Here I am with Deb and Sam.

Just lounging around …

Lounging around

This weekend was not as exciting as last weekend, although I did enjoy the party on Friday night. On Saturday I spent most of the day lounging around and playing with my favourite toys: the smiley spider, the squeaky bird, and the pentapus. I was planning to go out to another party on Saturday night, but I was way too tired.

Yawn!

On Sunday Nanna and Asher and my cousins Ruby, Leah and Hannah came to visit, but I was still very tired from the busy day before. But today I feel much better, after a good sleep, and a fun bath with my dad!

Luke’s Birthday

P81700030vzcropToday was my uncle Luke’s birthday, and we all went out for a yummy Japanese meal. Here I am with Luke and my aunt Julie.

This time I finally managed to have a picture taken of me playing with Luke, and he does seem quite excited about it in this photo. I think he may have been under the mistaken impression that my parents had given me to him as a present for his birthday.

On the wild and windy coast

Wild and wooly

It has been such a busy weekend. We went down the Great Ocean Rd with Rob & Deb, and I had my first trip to the beach. Wild, windy and woolly! We walked along the beach and played with Griffin the shaggy dog, and then on the way back we saw some koalas.

In the swing of things

We spent most of the time in the house, lounging around, listening to all sorts of music, eating, drinking and playing games. Here I am getting into the swing of things. I was also quite amused by Rob playing with the colourful birds that flew in and pecked at him.

Today we drove all the way back to Melbourne, to go to afternoon tea with Jill, Cordelia, Oliver, Kim, Sam and the cutest pussy cat EVER. And after that I went to meet my step-uncle Yos and his family, and my other step-cousins Odette and Aria were there, and others who were sort-of-cousins (it is SO confusing in my extended family). So now I am VERY tired. I’ve had a fun bath, and now I’m about to go to bed.

With uncle Heef

With uncle Heath at MeccaBah

My uncle Heath arrived today and is staying with us all week. Now I’ve finally met all my fun uncles!

We went out for dinner with my auntie Mel at a colourful restaurant. Apparently I also went there a few days before I was born, but I can’t really remember that.

A check-up, a party, and a couple of jabs

August 23rd, 2005 by Annalena

Today was a very big day, and I’m now feeling very tired and a little sore and cranky.

After a fun morning of playing around and reading stories I had my 8 week checkup. Everything was great, although some people seemed to think that I was too long/tall (62.5cm) and not fat enough (4.9kg). But I am really healthy, eat well, and regularly fill my nappies, so there really isn’t anything to worry about. Maybe I am just destined to be tall and thin?

Floor party

After the checkup was the last organised meeting of our local new parents and babies group. We all lay on the floor and played while our parents ate quiche and muffins and cake and drank wine. The group has been fun and I hope we continue to meet regularly. I really liked looking at all the other babies.

Then, after the party, we went to the Town Hall where something happened that I am trying to forget. First we had to wait a LONG time for our number to be called, but at least I was waiting with some other babies I knew. The we went behind a screen, where a nice woman put some sticky liquid on my tongue and then jabbed me with 3 needles. It didn’t feel very nice at all. So now I feel sleepy and cranky, and I’m also a bit annoyed that I didn’t get to see Asher’s new show, which opened tonight.

Chadstone

In Chadstone carpark

Although we had a great play this morning with uncle Heath, sometimes I doubt how much my mummy loves me. First she takes me to have injections, and today she took me to Chadstone with uncle Heath. I didn’t mind the bus trip too much - I slept a lot of the way, and when I was awake I just thought of the song “The wheels of the bus go round and round, …” But Chadstone itself was not much fun at all.
