Diary entries for September, 2005

Presents from SIMS

With Terri from SIMS

Today I went into my dad’s work, and met some of the people he plays with during the day. Here I am with Terri and some of the great presents the folks at SIMS gave me.

As you can see, I was pretty relaxed that day.

New Weblog

September 2nd, 2005 by Annalena

The blog has now been reborn at this new address … and with a new look. (Actually, I tried to make it fairly similar to the old diary). I think it looks ok. What do you think?

There are bound to be a few teething problems, but they should all be sorted out fairly soon. The main hassle is shifting all the images to the new blog, and updating the image links. It should all be working well, but if you find a problem send me an email: annalena@jpaarons.net

Commenting should now be working for both the Diary and the Photo Albums - so leave me some messages!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

September 7th, 2005 by Annalena

CharlieToday I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at our local cinema, in the special “spit the dummy” session. The only problem is that I don’t have a dummy to spit, so I had to improvise on that one … I used my mum’s breast instead, but that was a bit more difficult to spit!

I’m really enjoying these film outings. Last week I went to see Wedding Crashers which was a fairly silly film with an ending that made me lose some of my lunch. But then again, I’m often losing some of my lunch these days.

Brunch with Tania

With Tania

Today was a really fun day. In the morning we went to visit my great-grandmother Tania, and had a yummy brunch. I had some of my favourite food (after a tasty entree), while mum, dad and nanny Tania had fruit salad and cheese roll and cake and tea and coffee (and their food is starting to look interesting to me).

After brunch we went to a workshop with the Australian Breastfeeding Association. We met other expectant mothers, a few other cute babies, and saw videos that looked pretty yummy to me.

Photos with Lisette and Rob

'With' Lisette and Rob

Even though we’ve had lots of fun times with Lisette and Rob in the last 11 weeks, somehow they’ve managed to avoid being in any photos with me. They came to visit again today, and I hid away in my cot, so the best photo we could get was this one here. (Although later on I think they snuck into my room and had a real peep at me while I was sleeping.)

Nanna Sandra’s back!

Nanna Sandra's back!

It is going to be a fun week, now that Nanna Sandra is back in town. I’ve also heard that there will be some other special visits this weekend. It is going to be great!

Story Time

"Story Time"

I’ve been going along to Story Time at our local library for the past few weeks. Most of the other kids are older than me, and they seem to know all the stories and all the words to the songs, but I don’t mind being a newbie.

"Story Time" (close-up)

Today I went along with Nanna Sandra and our fun friend Deb (for whom going to Story Time is part of her job), and my dad popped in and took a few photos. Felix and Esther from our parents’ group also came along today, which made me feel good because I like having more friends around.

Poppy Kerry

Kerry and Vicki

Yesterday I finally met Poppy Kerry and Vicki! They came in the evening, and we all had a fun play. Later on Grandpa Jeff and Bianca also came over, and we all got excited when the big football game came on the TV. It reminded me of the exciting time when we went to the football in the big bright stadium, and we all hoped for another big St Kilda win this time. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, so I’ll have to pack away my red, white and black beanie until next year.

Stripes!

Today we went out shopping with Kerry and Vicki, to a great shop full of stuff for me and my mum. We then went to a cafe, and had a yummy dinner together, and then I played around in all my stripey clothes, before we finally said goodbye. I really hope we will go to visit them in Tasmania some time soon. (And we can’t wait to also visit Nanna Sandra, who sadly went home this morning, and Uncle Heath as well!)

Lazy Sunday Afternoon …

September 18th, 2005 by Annalena
Dribble blankie

It’s been another busy week, and it has been nice to just be quiet and relaxed today. I lounged around for a while on the colourful dribble blankie Kerry and Vicki gave me, and then went out for a walk with my mum. We needed a quiet day to calm down from all the fun and excitement during the week (including many other things that I didn’t write about in this diary):

  • my mum’s first aid course (and my dad’s futile attempt to trick me into using a bottle instead of my mum’s breast), Nanna Sandra’s visit, Poppy Kerry’s visit, dinner with Jess, Story Time at the library, watching the footy with Kerry, Vicki, Jeff and Bianca (and being sad at St Kilda’s disastrous loss), brunch with Geoff and April, the shopping trip, playing in my stripes, many other walks and cafe adventures, and of course the baths and massages, and reading and singing with my parents.

Such a busy life! So it has been good to kick back today, in the words of the Small Faces:

Lazy Sunday afternoon
I’ve got no mind to worry
Close my eyes and drift away

I’m a pony!

September 22nd, 2005 by Annalena

Well, I am a little hoarse!

I’ve actually been really hungry, and I get really upset when I wake up in the middle of the night with my tummy rumbling. As a result I’m now sounding a bit husky, which I actually think is rather fetching. I’ve been eating so much over the past few days, and I’m growing so quickly. I don’t fit into my first bath any more, and now I can splash around in the bigger bath that mum’s friend Anita gave us. There is even room for a few bath toys, like the little ducky (which reminds me of one of my favourite books: Zachary Quack - Minimonster.)

Grandpa, Bianca, auntie Julie, and my fun cousins Ruby, Leah, and Hannah came to visit this afternoon. I hadn’t seen my cousins for quite a while (they seem to be going on holiday ALL the time!), but when they came this time I was feeling very tired and a bit hungry. I would like to have played more with them, but I really needed some quiet time. Next time I PROMISE I’ll be in a better mood!

Ryan and Vik come to visit

September 22nd, 2005 by Annalena
With Ryan and Vik

This evening I’ve been a lot more relaxed, after a good big feed, and a good sleep. So I was on my best behaviour when Ryan and Vik came to visit. I thought they were really fun to play with, and Ryan even seemed a bit clucky around me! Well, he is pretty spunky, especially in his fancy suit.

A busy day: Monash, a party, and dinner with Nanna

September 23rd, 2005 by Annalena

It has been a very busy day today.

I went out to Monash University with my mum, and we looked at the child care services there. One day, when I’m a bit older, I may be allowed to stay there and play with the other kids.

After that I went to Caulfield, and ended up at a party with my dad. I was very popular at the party, although I got really tired from all the attention and had to go home early (much to my dad’s disappointment).

Dinner with Luba and Asher

Then tonight (after a good rest) we had dinner with Nanna and Asher, and uncle Luke was also there. I hadn’t seen Nanna and Asher for such a long time - not since the last time we had dinner with them, which was weeks ago. I had a great time looking all around the house, at the beautiful new paintings, and I really liked the big gong. We didn’t take any photos this time, but here is a photo from the last time we had dinner with them.
