Mum’s going back to work

Fun with Nanna Sandra

There are two big things worth mentioning about this week:

  1. Nanna Sandra is back in town
  2. Mum is going back to work

Bye-bye
Mum going back to work

Nanna Sandra arrived last Friday, and since then we’ve been playing together all through the day. It has been a lot of fun. Then on Tuesday morning my mum said goodbye, and went off to work for the day - the first time I’ve been away from both my parents since … I don’t know, maybe I’ve never been away from them until now?

Bath time with Octopus

Of course, in the afternoon my mum comes home, and we have a big play. Then my dad comes home, and gives me a bath, which is definitely one of my most favourite things to do.

Wet, wet, wet.

As you can see, I’m getting much bigger, especially when you look at this very old picture of me in my very first baby bath. Soon I’ll be too big for this, my second baby bath, and I’ll have move up to the real bath. That might be a bit scary, but at least I’ll have more room for my ever growing collection of cephalopod bath toys.

Annalena Pumpkin Eater

Annalena Pumpkin Eater

It has been a fun weekend. We went to the farmers market at the Collingwood Children’s Farm on Saturday morning, and met up with Arushan and Jak. I saw chickens and baby lambs at the farm, and we bought lots of yummy food from the market. Then we came home and began eating the food, and finally I’m getting a chance to join in! Here I am being fed some yummy pumpkin and sweet potato - some of it even managed to get in my mouth.

Pretty in Pink

On Sunday we went out to another market, where my parents bought me lots of new stuff. Mainly bibs, which I seem to go through fairly quickly, as well as a few fun toys. I dressed up in a pretty pink frock, and everyone thought I was SO beautiful.

More Injections

December 15th, 2005 by Annalena

I had my third dose of injections this morning. This time I was even braver than last time, and I barely cried at all, even though the second jab did hurt a bit. I’m definitely not as needle-phobic as my dad!

Fun with Tania

December 17th, 2005 by Annalena

My Great-Grandmother Tania came to visit us today. She brought me a wonderful present: a beautiful dress which she made all by herself. I can’t wait till I am big enough to wear it, which shouldn’t be long since I’m growing quickly now that I’m eating all sorts of yummy foods.

Hannah’s Birthday Party

December 18th, 2005 by Annalena

It has been another exciting weekend for parties. Last night we went to farewell Ian, Natalie, Alex and Adam, who are heading off to Canada. It was a fun party, with lots of other kids, and I also met some more of my parents’ friends.

With Leah & Hannah

Today we went to a little birthday celebration for my cousin Hannah. Lots of my uncles and aunts and cousins were there to party along with Hannah. The only people missing were my grandparents Asher and Nanna Luba (who get home tomorrow morning!), and Grandpa and Bianca (who come home from India on Thursday).

Karaoke with my cousins

The best part of the party was when we all got together and played with the karaoke machine that uncle Luke brought along. We all sang along to classic songs from the 80’s, although I didn’t really know the words because they are from a bit before my time. (Apart from Wham, of course, which my parents play for me all the time because I share a birthday with George Michael.)

Back with Nanna Sandra

After the party I came home exhausted from all the fun, but I was still very excited to see Nanna Sandra. Nanna Sandra has been staying with us for a few weeks now, spending most days with me while my parents go off to work. She’s been feeding me all sorts of yummy food, and reading books and playing games with me all day.

Nanna Luba’s Back!

Admiring Asher's Art

Yay! We all went for dinner at Asher and Nanna Luba’s tonight. It was a really hot day, so we went over early and my parents and auntie Mel went for a swim. I was feeling a bit tired, so I didn’t go for a swim this time. Instead I had a nap in this fun room, filled with Asher’s amazing art.

A lesson from Nanna Luba

After my nap I got up we all sat around the dinner table to eat a yummy feast. It was great to finally be back with Nanna Luba and Asher - they were away for so long that I almost couldn’t remember them!

Reading "Hairy Maclary" to Nanna Luba

After dinner Nanna Luba sat on the floor with me, and we read one of my favourite books. We also played with some of the fun things around the house - my favourite was the huge gong that made a noise that sounded like “gong!”

6 Months Old Today

Presents!

Oh, and it is also Xmas day. That might explain why I received so many presents.

The day began with a huge collection of presents, which I helped to unwrap. As you can see from the photos, I now have lots of fun new things to play with - especially all the wrapping paper and cardboard packaging!

All for me!

6 months old today

I had a fun morning with Nanna Sandra and Auntie Mel, who came over to help me open my presents and to have breakfast with my parents. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we all had a fun play in the back yard. I also got to show off one of my favourite presents, this fabulous punk suit from my parents: “Boy Bands Suck!”

Geoff, dad & me

In the afternoon we went for lunch with my dad’s family. I met lots more cousins and other relatives, and had a great time helping Joel to play the guitar.

Tania’s 85th Birthday

December 29th, 2005 by Annalena

Today was my Great-Grandmother Tania’s 85th birthday. We went to Nanna Luba’s for a big party, and lots and lots of my cousins were there. I had a great time, especially when I went for a swim (it was SO hot outside, but nice in the pool.).
