Diary entries for May, 2006

Back to some routine

Snack time

In the past week I’ve finally settled back into some sort of routine. Here’s my general routine: Getting up, having a feed with mum then having another nap with dad, getting up again for a hearty breakfast then heading out for some fun activity (storytime; visiting friends or relatives; going to the shops; heading to a gallery, museum, or the aquarium), coming home for another nap, getting up for a yummy meal, then playing around at home until mum comes home from work. Then it is dinner, bath and bed. That’s my day.

The past week has followed this pattern fairly closely. My daily activities have been diverse: On Sunday I went to a pub with my dad and met some of his old uni friends; on Monday I visited Auntie Julie, then dropped in and had a fun play with Grandpa; Wednesday I went to storytime with Wil (who’s 1st birthday party is this Saturday!); and today I visited my great grandmother Tania and showed her how great my ball throwing skills are getting.

Wil’s 1st birthday party

May 6th, 2006 by Annalena

Today I went to my friend Wil’s first birthday party. It was great fun playing with all the other kids, running (crab-crawling) around the backyard chasing the balls, singing happy birthday, and of course eating lots of sugar!

Wil definitely had a fabulous time, and he’ll have an even better time later today from the look of that stack of presents. He also seemed to love the birthday cake - especially the yummy blue icing.

Family Fun

May 12th, 2006 by Annalena

It has been a few great days of family fun. Yesterday Uncle Heath came from Tasmania to stay with us for a few days, and we also had a visit from Grandpa and Bianca. We all had a great time: Grandpa showed me his new car, and Uncle Heath gave me a few good netball tips.

Today I went to visit Nanna Luba and Asher. We climbed up and down the stairs over and over again, but I never really understood why Nanna wanted me to go down them all backwards. Dolly and I also had a great play on Asher’s new artwork.

Playgroup in the park

May 13th, 2006 by Annalena

Today we went down to the St Kilda Botanical Garden to meet up with some others from my playgroup. Mila, Daniel and their parents were there, and uncle Heath and auntie Mel also came along. The weather was fairly threatening, but we managed to have a fun play on the big chess board in the park. I showed off my ball skills, and the other kids caught on fast.

Heath

It has been absolutely brilliant having uncle Heath stay with us for the weekend, and I was a bit sad to see him leave today. Maybe we’ll go to visit him in Tasmania soon (and also visit a few grandparents while we are there)?

Greenmeadows Gardens

May 20th, 2006 by Annalena

Even though I’ve had a nasty snotty cold all week (my first cold ever, and certainly not a nice experience) I’ve been pretty happy. It is only my hacking cough that really annoys me. I have also been sleeping really well - last night I slept all the way through without waking at all, another first!

Today was beautiful and sunny, so we walked down to a beautiful park near our house: Greenmeadows Gardens. I had a great fun play with my parents, and even though it was quite cold I enjoyed the beautiful afternoon sunlight. The parks seemed like a lot of fun, with lots of other kids there playing all sorts of fun ball games. I’m sure I’ll go back there a lot in the future. My dad also tells me that he used to go down to that park a lot when he was growing up, and he has some great memories of that place.

Willow’s 1st Birthday

Playing with Willow

I went to Willow’s first birthday party today at the Earth Canteen. It was great fun seeing Willow again, and meeting some of her friends.

Unfortunately we couldn’t stay at the party too long because we had to go to a big lunch at Nanna Luba’s with lots of my family. I had a huge sleep (still trying to get over my first snotty cold), and then woke up for some yummy food and a great play with everybody.

Sunnies

Even though I haven’t written much in my diary recently I’ve been having a really fun time. Lots of playing in the park, going to story time, eating yummy food, and reading books. I’ve also started taking my first steps, though I still think that walking is too slow compared to my excellent style of crawling.
