Warrandyte

Cafe Chic

Another fun day today. It began with a yummy breakfast at The Wall, one of my favourite cafes. I had some vegemite on toast and also shared some of my dad’s roast capsicum and eggplant pide.

After breakfast we headed off on the long drive to Warrandyte to visit Nick’n'Pip (who’s beautiful wedding we went to a few months ago). When we arrived there was a pleasant surprise for me, Jida and Jamie were also there. After a great nap and a yummy lunch we all had a fun play together and then went for a long walk along the Yarra. I loved being carried in the backpack, where I could see everything: the trees and shrubs; the prickles and weeds; the beautiful lorikeets; the strange mushrooms; the flowing river; the kangaroos feeding on the other side; and my favourite, Allie and Red, the two beautiful dogs who came for the walk with us.

Finger food

Dinner

I’m getting so grown up! Tonight I ate dinner all by myself, and it was heaps of fun. Of course, I needed a bath afterwards. Maybe next time I shouldn’t try to eat soup with my hands.

Swinging with Grandpa

Swinging with Grandpa

I had heaps of fun this afternoon. I met up with Grandpa and Bianca at a funky Cafe in Balaclava and had some yummy lunch. Grandpa then came along with us to my favourite park where we played on the slides and swings.

At Nanna Luba’s

Mum, Dolly, me and Nanna Luba

Today Dolly and I went to visit Nanna Luba and Asher. I impressed everyone with my prowess on the stairs - I can now go up the 5 steps very quickly, and can come down them very carefully (always backwards, of course). Nanna Luba also made some yummy soup for me, but I preferred to eat my favourite food at the moment: bananas. I certainly have expensive tastes!

A week with Nanna Sandra

June 14th, 2006 by Annalena

Nanna Sandra is here again for another week of fun and games. We’ve been having lots of fun. She brought me a fantastic present: a fluffy bunny suit, that I just love wearing. Yesterday I had great fun at the park with Nanna, and today we had a visit from Nanna’s friend Jenny. I’ve been playing a lot with my soccer ball - inspired, of course, by our team’s performance at the World Cup so far. I’ve also been playing other games, including “open, shut them“.

Bubble fun and Rowdy’s Party

Nanna Sandra's Bubbles

Today was very busy, but a lot of fun. In the morning I went with my mum, dad and Nanna Sandra to a photo studio where a very funny man took lots of photos of us. I also got to play with my favourite ball, and Nanna Sandra blew lots and lots of bubbles. She kept blowing bubbles for me even after we got home.

After a nice sleep we headed across town to see my cousin Rowdy, to celebrate her 2nd birthday. Rowdy is really really friendly, and really likes me - she kept trying to hug and kiss me and hold my hands. Very sweet.

An early birthday present from my cousins

June 19th, 2006 by Annalena

My cousins Ruby, Leah and Hannah are going away and won’t be here for my birthday, so they came over today with aunt Julie and Nanna Luba and brought me some fabulous presents. Now my dolly has her own pram, and I can push her around in it, while walking! After playing at home with my presents for a while we all went to the park and I played on the swings and slides again. I was really brave, coming down the big bumpy slide with Hannah.

With Wil

I went to a fun playground with Wil today. We played on a big pirate ship, went down a big slide, and went for a ride in a wobbly row boat.

Indian Palace

We went to dinner tonight at a great restaurant with Grandpa and Bianca, aunt Julie and Craig, and uncle Luke (I think I’ve been there before). I had some yummy masala dosa and had a great time playing with everybody.

My 1st birthday!!!

In the morning I opened some presents in bed:

Then we went to Felix’s birthday party (his birthday is tomorrow). I played with Felix and his friend Esther (both from our playgroup), and chased some cats around the back yard:

Then we went home, I had a sleep, and when I woke up our place was full of people - a great surprise party for my birthday! I had an absolutely fantastic time, got some great presents, and loved playing with all my friends and cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents and everyone else who was here.

[There were LOTS more people at my party (mostly members of my large and very fun family), but we were all having such a fabulous time that we didn't take any other photos. Hopefully other people who did take photos can send them to me.]

Happy Day, Sad Day

June 28th, 2006 by Annalena

I had 3 injections today - the one birthday present I really wasn’t looking forward to. Last time I was very brave, but this time was much more difficult. Perhaps I have inherited by dad’s opinion of needles. I cried a bit, but felt better pretty quickly. Luckily there were lots of other cute kids around to play with, and we had great fun cheering each other up.

Walking Tall (on my own!)

After that my dad took me for a fabulous treat. We visited the toy library in Elwood, and I had a huge play with lots of the fun toys. We came home with a few too: a big dump truck, and a glockenspiel shaped like a puppy. I spent all the afternoon playing with these great toys, as well as all the great toys and stuff that people gave me for my birthday. I also dressed up in the ski suit my auntie Mel got for me and had a big run around outside - quite literally - since I am walking more and more confidently each day.

It was also a very sad day for us. Today was the funeral of my great Nanna MacKay, my mum’s much loved nanna. She was a lovely lady who sent me many presents including my pretty pink beanie.

New frocks

June 30th, 2006 by Annalena

I’ve been having a great time showing off some of my new clothes and visiting my grandparents.

Yesterday I wore a pretty floral frock and had a great time with Nanna Luba. We went to the park, went of the swings and slides, and I played with a giant abacus.

Today I wore a beautiful dress that was a hand-me-down from cousin Rowdy. I went to visit Grandpa and Bianca and met my step-cousin Anna. We played with balls and balloons, I tried to eat peas with a spoon, and I chased the pussy cats all over the house.
