Sunday afternoon in the sun

December 3rd, 2006 by Annalena

A beautiful day: a nice afternoon tea with Alison, a bit of totem tennis, a cute cat to play with, and lots of nude backyard action.

New words every day ….

December 14th, 2006 by Annalena

We haven’t been taking photos lately, but we’ve still been having a fun time.

  • I had my 18 month check-up last week (a couple of weeks early) and all was great. I’m now 83.5cm tall (in the 90th percentile) and weigh 10.75 kg (about average for my age).
  • I’ve been learning lots of new words every day. Recently my parents tried to list all the words I can say, but they stopped when they got to 100 words. At the moment I’m learning the names of all the colours. My favourite colour words are purple, green, yellow and blue, but I also know red and pink. I don’t always match the correct word with the colour, but I’m getting better.
  • My favourite word at the moment is probably “park”. I like to go to the park every day, to play on the swing and the slides, to run around with the other babies, to chase the birdies, and to admire the dogs.
  • I’ve been continuing swimming lessons on Monday. I love being in the pool, but I’m getting a bit tired of being told when to kick and when to blow bubbles. I can do all those things, but I’ll do them when I want to.
  • I’ve been spending Tuesdays with Nanna Luba and Asher and Thursday mornings with Grandpa and Bianca. It is great spending so much time with my grandparents. I just wish I could spend more time with my other grandparents who live in Tasmania

Truck

Truck

A package from Poppy Kerry and Vicki arrived this morning, and I couldn’t wait to rip open the packaging. I probably should have waited a couple of weeks, but I just couldn’t help myself. I love my dump truck!

Grandpa’s Birthday

Here is the star sheep

Tonight we went out for dinner to celebrate Grandpa’s birthday (which is tomorrow). We went to a yummy Thai restaurant and I played with my cousins Hannah, Leah and Ruby. Bianca also read me one of my new favourite books, Where is the Green Sheep.

Today I made a new friend: a beautiful baby boy called Anealan, who came to visit with his parents Arushan and Jak. I just couldn’t resist trying to give him a big sloppy kiss.

Asher’s 70th

December 16th, 2006 by Annalena

Today was a HUGE day. Not only is it my Grandpa’s birthday today (we went to a yummy restaurant last night to celebrate with him), it is also Asher’s 70th birthday. We celebrated by having a yummy barbecue, and giving him the great surprise present that we made a few weeks ago.

I’ve got the blues

December 17th, 2006 by Annalena

We dropped in to visit Nanna Luba and Asher again today, to help finish the left over food from yesterday, and to hang out for a while with my cousins Hannah, Leah and Ruby. While rummaging through all the old toys we found an old harmonica. I found it difficult at first, but with a bit of coaching from Leah and Hannah I quickly mastered it.

Claire

With Claire and family

I met Claire and her parents Ernie and Gwen last summer at their annual picnic. This year we’ll be away for the picnic, so to make up for that they came to visit us at home today. I had a lot of fun running around with Claire, showing her all my toys, and dancing around and around with her. I hope to see more of her next time she comes to visit from her home far away in San Fransisco.

No more boobie

December 22nd, 2006 by Annalena

I reached another milestone this week: I voluntarily stopped breast feeding from my mummy. Up till now I’ve enjoyed some “yummy mummy” before bed and first thing in the morning, but now I prefer just to have some moo milk from a little bottle. Even so, I do know that breast is best, and I still occasionally give my little “bee-bee” (wibbly pig) some of my own boobie.

Xmas in Victor Harbor

December 29th, 2006 by Annalena

Just back from a fun time in Victor Harbor with mum, dad, Nanna Sandra and auntie Mel, visiting my cousin Minnie and her parents Glenn and Catie. I’m very tired after the long trip home, and will sleep very well tonight.

On the beach at Victor Harbor just near cousin Minnie’s house, and back in our flat with Nanna Sandra reading one of my new books:

New Year’s Eve at Grey River

December 31st, 2006 by Annalena

We are having a very laid-back time down here on the Great Ocean Road with Rob, Deb, Griffin and Max. Griffin is being very friendly but Max the “mao-mao” is hiding away under the bed. I wish he’d come out and play with me.

It is much warmer than the last time I was here and I’ve had a chance to play a lot on the beach in my funky new beach gear and have my first sea water swim.
