Diary entries for January, 2007

Beginning 2007

January 4th, 2007 by Annalena

New Year’s Day was much the same as the previous day, just a bit greyer and cooler. Certainly not as hot as last year. We went down to the beach and I played in the rockpools. We also saw lots of colourful birdies and sleepy koalas. The next day we went back down to the beach and I had my first go at bodysurfing. It was pretty scary, and the water was very cold (definitely not as warm as the pools I’m used to swimming in), but I reckon I’ll give it another go some day.

Gabriel comes to visit

January 4th, 2007 by Annalena

It was a very busy, and very hot day today. This morning we woke very early after a hot night when the man came to fix the fence. After breakfast we walked mummy to the train on her way to work and then I went to the park with Nanna Sandra. Then back home for a visit from Grandpa and Bianca - with lots of dancing the Hokey-Pokey. Then after my sleep we had a visit from baby Gabriel (who I met once before) and his parents Kerry and Adam. Even though he is still very small I played gently with him, blowed him some bubbles and shared my toys, and I even gave him a big pash on the lips.

MamaBike

MamaBike

This week we’ve been experimenting with the fabulous MamaBike that my friend Mila’s mum let us borrow. I rode it once before and thought it was fabulous. But I haven’t enjoyed it as much this time, mainly because I’m supposed to wear the special tight fitting bike hat. My friend Sam came over today and he really liked riding on it with his dad Simon, although he also had problems with the bike hat (it was a bit too small). I think I disappointed my dad because he really liked the bike and wanted to take me to the beach on it. Maybe I’ll give it another go in a few weeks.

Party!

January 14th, 2007 by Annalena

I went to a really fun party today, with lots of other babies, a big swimming pool, and food and music and dancing. Here I am playing the rice cracker accompanying Jida on the ukelele. Maybe we should form a band, or join Jida’s dad’s band.

The party was to celebrate Pip and Nicky’s first anniversary. Hard to believe it’s been a whole year since their wedding.

Nanna Sandra went home on the aeroplane this morning. It was so much fun having her stay for so long, and I’m going to miss her. Every time I hear a plane fly overhead I think about her flying home.

Child care orientation

First day at child care

I had my first orientation day at child care today. Mummy and daddy came with me and we spent all morning with all the other babies. It was lots of fun - maybe even more fun than being at the park.

Sam’s farewell

With Sam and Vanessa

My friend Sam is going back to New Zealand. Today he had a farewell party and there was lots of yummy food and some fun babies to play with. Sam and Vanessa and I really kicked up a storm. Bye-bye Sam, and have fun when you get home. Maybe I’ll see you again one day - who knows?

Garden Party with Jida

Garden Party with Jida

It was a perfect day today. Not too hot (as it was last week), and not too wet (as it has been the past few days), but just right. I spent the morning having fun at childcare (we call it the Baby Playcentre), and this afternoon Jida and his parents Jamie and Shelly came over for a garden party.

Mau Mau

adopt your own virtual pet!

I spent a bit of time surfing the web with my dad today. We were browsing a number of MySpace sites of cool bands playing music for people just like me, such as Jida’s dad’s band The Bugs.

Along the way I managed to adopt a pet - this cool pink cat that I call Mau Mau. She loves to play with the ball, and always seems to be hungry, so I’m sure she’d appreciate some attention.

Invasion Day

January 26th, 2007 by Annalena

It was a big fun day today on this Australia Invasion Day public holiday. This morning we went to feed Mel’s beautiful cat Bella, had some breakfast at Babble, then came home just in time to get ready for Willow’s visit. After the fun we had last week we’ve decided to get together regularly to play. We had a fabulous time, sharing toys, playing in the princess tower, and setting up our own Baby Centre with our dolls.

In the afternoon Nanna Luba came over with Hannah, Leah and Romy. We played in the backyard, and it was such a beautiful day that I decided it was best to be nude.

Me and Daddy

Before going to bed I had a big play with mummy and daddy on their big bed (which they think I’m sometimes a little too fond of) Here’s a great picture of me playing with my daddy.

More visitors

No Photos Please

Another exciting day, with lots of fun visitors to play with. Uncle Heath and Steph are visiting from Tasmania and came over to our place to play with me. Heath was especially generous to let me play with his fancy rock-star sunglasses. Lisette also came over today, and I showed off my bubble catching skills to everyone.
