A fun week, and then Sam’s Party

February 4th, 2007 by Annalena

It has been a fun week. I had my first full days at the Baby Centre on Monday and Wednesday, and had a great time playing with all the other babies, playing on the swing and slide, eating yummy food, and sleeping on the floor mattress (as long as someone stroked my back while I went to sleep). On Tuesday I went to visit Nanna Luba and Asher, where we had a quick swim, and then I had a daytime sleep in a real bed for the first time. On Thursday Grandpa came over and took me down to play in the “Big Park”. On Friday I spent the morning with auntie Mel, who took me to Story Time. After my sleep I went to visit Grandpa and Bianca and ran around in the back yard with my cousins Hannah, Leah and Ruby.

Saturday was another busy day. We went to Babble for breakfast, then down to the Farmers’ Market where we got lots and lots of yummy fruit. Plums! I also ran into a few friends, including Deb and her dog Griffin, and baby Winter who was born in the same place I was born.

More beer

After lunch and a good sleep we headed to Sam’s birthday party. I was a bit disappointed, because it wasn’t my friend Sam who has gone back to New Zealand, but a more grown-up Sam who works with my parents at the university. Still, I had great fun at the party, eating chips and drinking my dad’s beer.

On the slide with Rob

Today is a warm and sunny lazy Sunday. I had breakfast with mum and Mel, and then Rob came over to visit and I went to the Big Park with him and dad. We played in the swings and the slides, and I showed off my counting: “One, two, three!” I just wish there weren’t so many planes flying in the sky over us, because they remind me of Nanna Sandra going home and make me feel a bit sad.

Daddy’s birthday

On Daddy's Birthday

A bit more low key than last year’s birthday, but still a nice fun day. In the morning we all woke up in the big bed and I gave daddy his presents. Then, after mum went to work, we had a leisurely morning visiting Nanna Luba and Asher. In the afternoon we came home and I helped dad clean out my fantastic new cubby house that uncle Craig put up for me yesterday. I’m going to have so much fun in my cubby!

Cubby House

In my new cubby

I’m having a great time in my new cubby house. Today Hannah, Leah and Ruby came over with all the furniture for the cubby (it used to be their cubby). There is a stove, an oven and a sink, as well as a tea set and lots of other things to play with. The first thing I did was brew a nice pot of tea for Hannah, who helped me set up. Grandpa and Bianca and Julie, Craig and Luke also came over this evening and we have a big Indian feast to celebrate dad’s birthday. Yummy yummy!

Today was hot, and the next few days are going to be even hotter. Perfect weather to go over to visit Grandpa, hang out in his pool, and share some yummy yummy fruit.

Visiting Mikhaela

February 17th, 2007 by Annalena

It was very very hot today. Much too hot to go outside, which was a great shame since I really wanted to play in my cubby. Despite the heat we did head out this afternoon to visit Mikhaela and her family: her brother Ethan, sister Jaymee, and parents Jo and Emma. We had a great time running around in just our nappies, and I especially liked playing with their toy train. Ethan and Mikhaela also showed me some fabulous dance moves. We had a very yummy dinner with them all then headed home for another sweaty night.

Its hard to believe that I once slept in this bassinet, but I did. Here I am helping mummy (and Wibbly) get it ready for the new baby.

At the Zoo with Jida

February 25th, 2007 by Annalena

This morning we got up early and my dad took me to the zoo, where we met up with Jida and his friend Casper, and Jida’s dad Jamie. We rented a trolley and our dads wheeled us all around the zoo in it. Although it wasn’t too hot today the lions and tigers were sleepy sleepy, and three of the elephants were frolicking in the waterhole. But my favourite this time were the monkeys, especially the cheeky ones swinging in the trees.
