With uncle Heef

With uncle Heath at MeccaBah

My uncle Heath arrived today and is staying with us all week. Now I’ve finally met all my fun uncles!

We went out for dinner with my auntie Mel at a colourful restaurant. Apparently I also went there a few days before I was born, but I can’t really remember that.

A check-up, a party, and a couple of jabs

August 23rd, 2005 by Annalena

Today was a very big day, and I’m now feeling very tired and a little sore and cranky.

After a fun morning of playing around and reading stories I had my 8 week checkup. Everything was great, although some people seemed to think that I was too long/tall (62.5cm) and not fat enough (4.9kg). But I am really healthy, eat well, and regularly fill my nappies, so there really isn’t anything to worry about. Maybe I am just destined to be tall and thin?

Floor party

After the checkup was the last organised meeting of our local new parents and babies group. We all lay on the floor and played while our parents ate quiche and muffins and cake and drank wine. The group has been fun and I hope we continue to meet regularly. I really liked looking at all the other babies.

Then, after the party, we went to the Town Hall where something happened that I am trying to forget. First we had to wait a LONG time for our number to be called, but at least I was waiting with some other babies I knew. The we went behind a screen, where a nice woman put some sticky liquid on my tongue and then jabbed me with 3 needles. It didn’t feel very nice at all. So now I feel sleepy and cranky, and I’m also a bit annoyed that I didn’t get to see Asher’s new show, which opened tonight.

Chadstone

In Chadstone carpark

Although we had a great play this morning with uncle Heath, sometimes I doubt how much my mummy loves me. First she takes me to have injections, and today she took me to Chadstone with uncle Heath. I didn’t mind the bus trip too much - I slept a lot of the way, and when I was awake I just thought of the song “The wheels of the bus go round and round, …” But Chadstone itself was not much fun at all.

The birth centre reunion

August 28th, 2005 by Annalena

Today we went back to the birth centre where I was born, to meet with all the other mums and dads and babies who went to childbirth classes with my parents. We took along some yummy cakes from one of my favourite cafes, but when we arrived it seemed that nobody else was coming.

The Birth Centre Reunion

But finally Winter and her parents Chris and Katrina arrived, and we little ones slept and played while our parents drank tea and ate lots of cake and pastries. It was fun to meet Winter, but I wish some of the other babies had come along too. Maybe they were outside enjoying the glorious weather?

Presents from SIMS

With Terri from SIMS

Today I went into my dad’s work, and met some of the people he plays with during the day. Here I am with Terri and some of the great presents the folks at SIMS gave me.

As you can see, I was pretty relaxed that day.

New Weblog

September 2nd, 2005 by Annalena

The blog has now been reborn at this new address … and with a new look. (Actually, I tried to make it fairly similar to the old diary). I think it looks ok. What do you think?

There are bound to be a few teething problems, but they should all be sorted out fairly soon. The main hassle is shifting all the images to the new blog, and updating the image links. It should all be working well, but if you find a problem send me an email: annalena@jpaarons.net

Commenting should now be working for both the Diary and the Photo Albums - so leave me some messages!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

September 7th, 2005 by Annalena

CharlieToday I went to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at our local cinema, in the special “spit the dummy” session. The only problem is that I don’t have a dummy to spit, so I had to improvise on that one … I used my mum’s breast instead, but that was a bit more difficult to spit!

I’m really enjoying these film outings. Last week I went to see Wedding Crashers which was a fairly silly film with an ending that made me lose some of my lunch. But then again, I’m often losing some of my lunch these days.

Brunch with Tania

With Tania

Today was a really fun day. In the morning we went to visit my great-grandmother Tania, and had a yummy brunch. I had some of my favourite food (after a tasty entree), while mum, dad and nanny Tania had fruit salad and cheese roll and cake and tea and coffee (and their food is starting to look interesting to me).

After brunch we went to a workshop with the Australian Breastfeeding Association. We met other expectant mothers, a few other cute babies, and saw videos that looked pretty yummy to me.

Photos with Lisette and Rob

'With' Lisette and Rob

Even though we’ve had lots of fun times with Lisette and Rob in the last 11 weeks, somehow they’ve managed to avoid being in any photos with me. They came to visit again today, and I hid away in my cot, so the best photo we could get was this one here. (Although later on I think they snuck into my room and had a real peep at me while I was sleeping.)

Nanna Sandra’s back!

Nanna Sandra's back!

It is going to be a fun week, now that Nanna Sandra is back in town. I’ve also heard that there will be some other special visits this weekend. It is going to be great!

Story Time

"Story Time"

I’ve been going along to Story Time at our local library for the past few weeks. Most of the other kids are older than me, and they seem to know all the stories and all the words to the songs, but I don’t mind being a newbie.

"Story Time" (close-up)

Today I went along with Nanna Sandra and our fun friend Deb (for whom going to Story Time is part of her job), and my dad popped in and took a few photos. Felix and Esther from our parents’ group also came along today, which made me feel good because I like having more friends around.

Poppy Kerry

Kerry and Vicki

Yesterday I finally met Poppy Kerry and Vicki! They came in the evening, and we all had a fun play. Later on Grandpa Jeff and Bianca also came over, and we all got excited when the big football game came on the TV. It reminded me of the exciting time when we went to the football in the big bright stadium, and we all hoped for another big St Kilda win this time. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, so I’ll have to pack away my red, white and black beanie until next year.

Stripes!

Today we went out shopping with Kerry and Vicki, to a great shop full of stuff for me and my mum. We then went to a cafe, and had a yummy dinner together, and then I played around in all my stripey clothes, before we finally said goodbye. I really hope we will go to visit them in Tasmania some time soon. (And we can’t wait to also visit Nanna Sandra, who sadly went home this morning, and Uncle Heath as well!)
